HierarchicalClustering algorithm

Jun 12, 2012 at 9:32 AM

I'm looking for a Hierarchical Clustering algorithm and found the one in the Bio.Algorithms.Alignment.MultipleSequenceAlignment namespace. However I need to cluster metabolomics data (numerical concentration values, no sequences) and I'm womdering if this might also be possible with this algorithm?

Thanks for your time and effort.

Hi Drjahu,

I am no expert, but I spoke to a few people and this is what I was told:

Yes, Algorithms\Alignment\NUCmer\ClusterBuilder.cs contains an implementation of hierarchical clustering, but this is specific to DNA sequences. A generic implementation of hierarchical clustering would not really be valuable to .NET Bio, but the project is licensed under Apache 2.0 so you would be entirely free to grab the implementation that is there and modify it for your own purposes.

Hope this helps!
